River Svarta - Trout fishing beat
River Svarta is situated in the north west of
Iceland, not far away from national road no.1.
Despite for being
located relatively close to the main road the river surroundings
are remote as well as scenic.
The
Svarta is an average volume river and a tributary to the salmon
river Blanda. The Svarta river is divided into two separate
beats (salmon & trout). The salmon beat includes the nethermost
part of the river, or from the confluence of the two main rivers
and upstream until the Svarta meets one small tributary river
called Hvammsa. The trout beat permit includes fishing on the
upper part of river Svarta as well for fishing on a tributary
river called Fossa. The river supports arctic
char & brown trout with the size range of 0,5 up to 3 kg.
There
is no actual fishing lodge by the river but
there are several good accommodation options to be found in the
area.
River Svarta is located approx 300 km north of Reykjavik.
