Lysa lakes
& rivers
The Lysa lakes & interconnecting rivers
are
located
on the Snaefellsnes peninsula,
by the roots of
Snaefellsjokull glacier,
approx 180 km west of Reykjavik.
The Snaefellsnes area is among
the most
amazing places in Iceland.
The Lysa area contains four lakes and rivers
between them.
This is one of few areas where you can find at
the same spot all of the freshwater fish types to be found in
Iceland, salmon, sea trout, brown trout, arctic char and even
eal.
There are six day permits available at a time and the
fishing spots are easily accesable. There
is no actual fishing lodge by the lakes but
there are several good accommodation options to be found in the
area.
