River Korpa is a remarkable salmon river. Large runs of salmon on
this low-volume river are virtually unique in today's world. This
little, peaceful river is one of the country's most productive
salmon rivers,
based on catch
per rod per day.
The Korpa is located only 15 minutes away from downtown Reykjavík
and therefore, ideal for travellers who want to try salmon fishing
in Iceland without too much fuss.
River Korpa is fished with only two daily rods at a time and
frequently producing 200 to 400 salmon in a single season. The
entire river from source to estuary is 7 km long, so there is ample
space. Permits are sold on daily basis.
The total catch 2009 was approx 260 salmon.
